More recently the speculation has focused on Dermott, who is rotating in and out of the lineup with Lehtonen before suffering a charley horse on Thursday. Those rumors might be simply be because the 24-year-old blueliner will be exposed in the upcoming expansion draft and Dubas would rather use him as an asset in a trade instead of losing him in expansion this summer for nothing.



Wouldn't anyone else they acquire be in the same boat? I doubt the leafs could trade dermott for an upgrade that isn't subject to the expansion draft.

Just looking at things, I don't see how holl and dermott are protected from expansion. Trading dermott for fear of losing him in expansion and then losing holl in expansion means you're down 2 dmen.

Big body LW for Tavares, sure....but will he ever live up to the old hype. He hasn't really shown anything in the NHL yet, or has he??
